In October 2021, I decided to take on the Inktober art challenge. I had attempted it a few times before but never fully committed. This time, I was determined to complete all the prompts on the list.
To be fair, I got a head start. Subscribers to the mailing list receive the prompts in advance, so I took the opportunity to plan accordingly. I spent time sketching rough concepts and incorporating some fun characters I had designed earlier. My focus was on visual storytelling rather than inking techniques. To simplify the process, I used black markers instead of liquid ink for almost all my drawings.
I learned a lot throughout the challenge and am proud to have completed it. However, creating a full illustration with a strong narrative every day was exhausting. I doubt I’ll attempt it again anytime soon, but I’m glad to have checked it off my bucket list!
