The Project:

This is my first post, and I’d like to talk a little about my most recent project. I’ve been working on a prompt generator that can display different kinds of prompts for different categories. I know there are some prompt generators around, but they weren’t catered specifically to my preferences, so I set out to create a generator that fulfills my needs more sufficiently. Before I sat down to work on this project, I used my “prompt jar”: a big glass jar with lots of tiny, folded paper snippets in it. Each snippet has a word or phrase I can use to find inspiration for art. It’s very similar to the prompt lists for Inktober,  but with an additional sense of randomness. But hey, we live in 2024; there must be an app for that, right? So, I just decided to make one myself! (As one does, of course. That’s normal, isn’t it?). So, this is the first version of the app! It took me a while, since I’m still learning to code in Java and use Android Studio (and my laptop is not the strongest device on the planet).

Here are some screenshot of the App so far:

What are you up to?

There are still some things to consider: The number of prompts is still small. If you have any recommendations for prompts and categories that you’d like to be implemented in the app, just let me know in the comments! Until then, I’ll simply add more prompts over the next few days. This is a little pet project, so I am more or less updating it on and off, whenever I have time to do so. I also wanted to make a version that’s optimized for the Onyx Boox Palma eReader. I have this device, and I love it so much! Okay, so, let’s see how it goes. ^O^

If you’d like to try the app yourself, you can find it here in the GitHub Repository:
